The chilli approach

BREYER was faced with a complex HMI landscape characterized by a high number of individual detail settings, different machine types and panel sizes. Engineers and operators struggled with inconsistent system logic, while the development teams lacked a standardized basis. Our challenge: to create a uniform operating philosophy that would enable the machine operators to work efficiently.

Contextual interviews with operators, control engineers and developers laid the foundation for the user-centered design process. By identifying points of friction across the entire lifecycle – from setup to maintenance – we developed a clear UX logic based on real needs.  

The new BREYER HMI enables faster setup, reduces downtime through targeted troubleshooting, and minimizes waste in startup processes. At the heart of the solution: adaptive matrix navigation that enables quick access to key functions and mode-specific dashboards that reduce the cognitive load on the operator.

Operators benefit from fewer errors, faster access to important tasks and a shorter training period. For BREYER, the HMI becomes a strategic differentiator that increases customer satisfaction and technical efficiency and is now used as a selling proposition at trade fairs and in marketing activities.
